02.08.2023
As part of the Erasmus+ programme, Dr. Vladimíra Horčinová Sedláčková from the Institute of Plant and Environmental Sciences at the Faculty of Agrobiology and Food Resources of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra completed a one-week working stay at the Faculty of Food Technology of the Technical University of Moldova (TUM).
The stay was mainly focused on the analysis of biologically active substances in vegetables using HPLC and other methods. Its content was also participation in the final master's exams and student presentations in the field of plant and animal product processing technology or a tour of laboratories and instrumentation at individual workplaces.
"I was particularly interested in the enology department at the university. It includes fully equipped laboratories for the production of wine with the TUM university brand. They are used not only for experimental microbiological, biochemical or sensory purposes, but also for representing the university at various events," said V. Horčinová Sedláčková. She added that Moldova has a very well systematized viticulture. The country produces the most wine per population in the world.
The Institute of Plant and Environmental Sciences has been cooperating with the departments of the Faculty of Food Technology TUM for several years. Seven doctoral students and researchers from the University of Moldova have already completed a research stay at the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra. During the Erasmus+ stay, their possible participation in the upcoming international conference under the leadership of the Institute of Plant and Environmental Sciences in the fall was also discussed, as well as other possible study and research stays.
