Forestry research in Slovakia celebrates 125 years this year. On this occasion, the National Forestry Center praised its partners and cooperating institutions, among them the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra (SUA), for their long-term cooperation.
The commemorative medal was received by the SUA Vice-rector for communication and practice, Prof. Pavol Findura. In a short speech, he highlighted the cooperation of both institutions so far. He sees its potential for the future in activities aimed at the development of research and education aimed at the permanent and sustainable use of the economic, ecological, environmental and social functions of the forest and soil in the country.
"Forestry and agriculture cannot function separately, it is necessary to comprehensively ensure the tasks of research, development and education in solving problems related to the natural environment and human activity in it. The priority is to reflect on the most current topics such as climate change, maintaining water in the forest and soil, preserving biodiversity, ensuring healthy and safe food and others," said Vice-rector Pavol Findura. At the same time, he added that the newly established AgroForestry consortium, which was created by the SUA in Nitra and Technical University in Zvolen, will be a great opportunity for generating research and innovation capacities.
The National Forestry Center in Zvolen is a contributory organization established by the state, which organizationally reports to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic.
