The European Universities Project INVEST has brought many activities over the past year
21.10.2025
The significant international project of European universities INVEST continued from October 2024 to September 2025 with intensive activities focused on the development of joint education, research, entrepreneurship support, and international dissemination.
The current alliance of European universities follows up on the project that was implemented from 2019 to 2023. In the new project, apart from SUA, there are also universities from Greece, Finland, Bulgaria, France, Italy, and Spain. The new project started on November 1, 2023, and will last until 2027.
“We are proud that SUA is leading such a type of consortium as the only university in Slovakia. The consortium will, in the coming years, work on the implementation of joint study programs, the organization of winter and summer schools, joint research, and the creation of a center of excellence,” said SUA Rector Klaudia Halászová.
In October 2024, a project meeting took place, attended by more than 50 representatives of partner universities. The main topic was joint study programs, which are key to creating a transnational European university. Subsequently, active promotion of the INVEST INCUBATOR and the student call regarding opportunities to support student entrepreneurship and creative innovations were launched. The project’s activities were presented at Partnership DAY at the Faculty of Economics and Management, and other opportunities to get acquainted with the project’s activities included FHLE Punch and the INVEST Christmas Punch.
The beginning of 2025 brought an important institutional step – the establishment of the international INVEST committee. The aim of this initiative was to strengthen student participation in achieving the project goals and in gathering feedback. In March, the INVEST webinar series continued, and the project was presented within the Career Days of FESRD. At the end of March, the INVEST Winter School was held in Finland, focusing thematically on the use of artificial intelligence in business, resource utilization, and sustainable development. In June, it was followed by the INVEST Summer School in Spain, dedicated to Mediterranean ecosystems.
The project also continued during the summer, when the Slovak visualization of the three pillars and seven research clusters within INVEST was created, with the aim of ensuring wider dissemination and facilitating discussion on the project’s research topics. There was also intensive promotion of the INVEST study specialization “Developing viable communities,” which focuses on sustainability and regions. September was marked by international events. The INVEST project was presented at the international educational fair EAIE in Gothenburg, Sweden, and the Conference of Slovak Economists SEAM was held at SUA with the participation of prestigious world economists. The section dedicated to the INVEST project focused on topics such as bioeconomy, renewable energy sources, and research analyses. Between September 15 and 20, the INVEST Summer School: Mediterranean diet, biodiversity and functional food (MEDEA) took place in Sicily.
These activities confirm that the INVEST alliance, under the leadership of SUA, continuously works on its vision of creating a modern, transnational European university and supporting the sustainable transformation of regions and communities.
