SUA has started a new cooperation with Louisiana State University

Representatives of LSU and SUA made a first step in bilateral cooperation and signed an agreement about future collaboration.

Representatives of LSU and SUA made a first step in bilateral cooperation and signed an agreement about future collaboration.
Rector Dr.h.c. prof. Ing. Peter Bielik, PhD., welcomed honourable guests Dr. John Russin, Vice chancellor of LSU Agcenter, Dr. JC Bunch, Dr. David Picha, Leslie Blanchard, PhD. and Ing. Ivana Tregenza at our university and introduced them to the Vice- rectors, deans and other representatives from SUA. Ing. Gabriela Slivinská from the International Relations Office of SUA , presented main role, structure, academic and research programmes and activities of SUA.
Leader of the LSU delegation, Dr. John Russin, introduced not only their university but also State of Louisiana. The LSU Agricultural center offers many practical programmes, which are aimed to help residents to cope with natural disasters such as flooding and hurricanes, but also to have healthy lifestyle and avoid diseases like obesity or diabetes.
Louisiana State University has 13 different departments, at which students can choose from a wide range of programmes from natural, human and social sciences. Agriculture center is mainly focused on forestry, fishery, production and research of sugarcane, rice, soybean, horticultural products, cotton and management of wildlife ecology, aqueous systems, forestry, nutrition and others. Dr. Russin emphasized, that each research station is independent and has to raise funds for own projects.
Representatives from LSU also learned more about activities and ongoing projects of SUA faculties and visited SUA assembly hall, botanical garden, laboratories and experimental brewery. At the end of the official meeting, both parties signed memorandum about future cooperation between SUA and LSU.
