The traditional gala beneficial concert “Christmas gift of the SUA“ took place in the SUA assembly hall on December 11,2014. The beautifully decorated auditorium dominates the whole complex of the SUA and this year it has been declared the national cultural monument. The gala concert was initiated and organized under the auspices of the Rector Dr.h.c. prof. Ing. Peter Bielik, PhD. The money raised in the amount of € 1,141 from the 4th annual event will be used to support students and students with disabilities of the SUA.
All honoured guests, staff and students, who were present at the event, were welcomed by the presenter doc. Danka Moravčíková. “In today’s busy world we can only rarely hear the tones of folk carols. But somewhere deeply in our hearts lies a desire for the returns. This desire is reflected not only in traditional meals or Christmas decorations, but also in the folk songs. There is no need to be worried about the purity and sincerity of our traditions – they also suit the modern lives and homes. This evening these traditions are mediated by the Folklore ensemble Zobor.” Using these words Doc. Danka Moravčíková introduced the first performers – the members of the Folklore ensemble Zobor and they evoked a Christmas atmosphere. In other part of the program were presented Marek Pobuda and Kristína Hanzenová, E.G.O. Group Band, Cymbalo music Zobor led by V. Hubinský. The main star of the event was a popular Slovak musician and singer Pavol Hammel whose performance was undoubtedly a great musical experience as many of the visitors grew up with his songs.
As a part of the ceremony programme, the Rector of the SUA prof. Peter Bielik greeted the audience. He highlighted the idea of the concert which was not only to bring people together but also to help them. “During the most beautiful time of the year, the Christmas, every year we try to financially support and improve the life quality of those who need our help most – the children in social service establishments and handicapped young people.”
Once again this year the Christmas concert was enriched by the side events. Below the auditorium of the SUA, a Christmas town was established where the graduates and the Departments of the SUA could presented their products. Among the exhibitors were the wine producers (the company Alcedo from Báb), a beekeeper and honey processor Ing. Joseph Čápek, a woodcarver Martin Heczko, Sonne Chrystal, Poltár, a SUA university farm in Kolíňany, the Department of Storing and Processing of Plant Products, the Department of Evaluation and Processing of Animal Products and others. The Christmas decorations and ikebana were presented by the SUA Botanical Garden, the handmade products and paintings were prepared by the students of the Horticulture and Landscape Engineering Faculty. The HLEF decided to donate the raised money to the handicapped students of the SUA. The University organization OZ PŠaV of the SUA in Nitra also financially supported our disabled students. The Christmas atmosphere was completed by the members of the theatre “Divadielko na Osmičke” and their Christmas carols.
