Delegation from TUZVO Visited SUA in Nitra within the Joint AgroForestry Project
03.09.2025On August 28, a delegation from the Technical University in Zvolen (TUZVO) visited the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra (SUA in Nitra). The guests toured the Creative Centre, the AgroBioTech Research Centre, and the SUA Botanical Garden.
TUZVO is SUA’s partner in the joint AgroForestry project, which focuses on developing joint study programs, linking research and innovation capacities, as well as integrating library, publishing, and IT systems. Therefore, the meeting was devoted not only to touring SUA’s infrastructure but also to cooperation within the project activity aimed at connecting science and research. “We are looking for topics for joint research projects and new joint study programs. The large AgroForestry project also opens the way to other opportunities, and I believe this consortium will help us in many areas,” said SUA Rector Klaudia Halászová, who welcomed the delegation.
She explained that one of the first joint study programs between SUA in Nitra and TUZVO will be Mechatronics. It will build on the secondary school program Agromechatronics, for which SUA Vice-Rector Pavol Findura, in cooperation with the AGRION association, has recently authored a textbook. The book launch is scheduled for September 5 at the Agrokomplex exhibition.
SUA Vice-Rector for Science and Research Drahoslav Lančarič added that, within the AgroForestry project, SUA and TUZVO are preparing a joint catalogue of research teams as well as research and development topics, which will serve as a basis for further cooperation.
The guests first visited the Creative Centre and the Slovak Agricultural Library. They were impressed by the multifunctional hall, studios, and media room. Afterwards, they toured the AgroBioTech Research Centre, where they were welcomed with a tasting of original products from the SUA Food Incubator – vegetable chips, teas, and fresh bread with innovative spreads. “Our specialized workplace, the Food Incubator, closely connects science, research, and practice. We offer our clients – startups, small and medium-sized businesses – the opportunity to test their recipes, which they can later apply in their own operations. We are open to cooperation, and I believe our research centre has inspired you,” said Adriana Kolesárová, Director of the AgroBioTech Research Centre.
The Food Incubator has already introduced vegetable chips and teas to the market and continuously works on developing new products. The next novelty – an apple-coconut snack – is planned to be presented to the public at the upcoming Agrokomplex exhibition. The visit concluded with a tour of the SUA Botanical Garden.
The TUZVO delegation included Vice-Rector for Science and Research Prof. Jozef Krilek; Vice-Deans Prof. Ján Sedliačik and Assoc. Prof. Peter Koleda; Vice-Dean JUDr. Zuzana Dobšinská; Dr. Monika Koreňová from the Project Management Office; and Prof. Branislav Olah from the Faculty of Ecology and Environmental Sciences.
